University Hospital Nurses Honor

UH Foundation’s Joni Moody

We are proud to share that Joni Moody, Grants Manager at the University Hospital Foundation, alongside Dr. Lois Green, University Hospital’s Senior Vice President of Wellness, Diversity, and Equity, was awarded the 2025 Nurse Excellence Award for Friends of Nursing by University Hospital’s Department of Nursing.

This meaningful recognition is given to individuals outside the Department of Nursing who go above and beyond to support nurses in their mission to deliver the highest standard of care. The Friends of Nursing Award honors those who uplift nursing teams, champion their efforts, and help bring the hospital’s mission and values to life.

Joni was nominated for her outstanding collaboration and tireless advocacy on behalf of our nurses and patients. In close partnership with Dr. Green, her hands-on involvement has helped streamline operations allowing nursing staff to focus more fully on patient care. Together, they have secured vital funding and resources: providing essential equipment like blood pressure cuffs for pregnant women, improving access to interpreters for patients with limited English proficiency, advocating for increased social work staffing, and expanding support services for Newark mothers. These efforts have strengthened University Hospital’s ability to deliver compassionate, equitable, and effective care—especially for women and children in our community.

At the UH Foundation, we see every day how behind-the-scenes work like Joni’s translates into real impact. We’re thrilled that our partners in the Department of Nursing have recognized her contributions in such a meaningful way.
