New Jersey Health Foundation
The University Hospital Foundation was proudly awarded $140,000 from the New Jersey Health Foundation. These grants will directly contribute to our efforts in community health, behavioral health, social science, social service and education. We are grateful for NJHF’s commitment to addressing important health-related issues impacting our community. The following programs have received funding:
University Hospital-American Safety & Health Institute Child Safety Pilot Program
This initiative led by the University Hospital Center for Emergency Preparedness will address an important need in our community: hands on skills-based training for caregivers responsible for the care of infants and small children. Unintentional injuries are a leading cause of death among children and many of these instances are preventable with the right skills and knowledge.
Breast Cancer Screening Program for Uninsured Women
Screening is crucial in early detection and can help to identify breast cancer at an early stage. This funding enables us to reduce the number of uninsured women who delay or cannot receive screening due to financial constraints, ultimately ensuring that more women in our community receive the services they need.
Centering Pregnancy & Centering Parenting
Following the Centering Health’s Institute (CHI) Centering model, UH’s Centering programs are managed by the Hospital’s OB/GYN and Pediatric departments. These programs have a lasting impact on maternal and infant health outcomes. NJHF funding will enable the Hospital to further strengthen this safe space for community and learning for mothers.
Opioid Overdose Response Team Project
This project aims to mitigate the opioid overdose crisis in our community through the expansion of approaches for addiction treatment. UH’s Emergency Medical Services collaborates with community partners and governmental organizations to battle against opioid addiction.
