Foundation Awarded Funding for Trauma Victims at University Hospital
In March 2023, the Foundation for University Hospital was awarded $750,000 by the New Jersey Office of Attorney General to support University Hospital’s Trauma Recovery Center (UH TRC). TRC provides out-patient services that assist survivors of violence through advocacy, mental health counseling, psychiatric services, case management, care coordination resources and referrals based on individual need. First established in 2021, TRC serves victims of violent crimes including sexual assault, domestic violence, shootings, and others. TRC’s multidisciplinary team includes a psychiatrist, psychologist, and licensed social workers. Staff provide compassionate wrap-around care to support the most sensitive clients with medication management, clinical case management, and access to individual and group therapy.
The Trauma Recovery Center is one of multiple programs funded by the State to serve survivors of violence. In April, the Office of Attorney General awarded University Hospital the Crime Victims’ Rights Award for its co-located Trauma Recovery Center and Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program.
