SUMMARY:Silent Auction
DESCRIPTION:Support University Hospital by bidding in our silent auction! This auction is raising money to provide free cancer screenings to under- and uninsured women through University Hospital’s Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Program. The need is great: over 30% of breast cancer cases treated at UH are diagnosed at advanced stages\, significantly greater than the national average. Many underserved women in Essex County do not receive breast cancer screening due to multiple barriers related to poverty\, language\, transportation costs\, and no or poor insurance coverage. In response\, UH recently purchased a new van\, a 3D mammography system\, and is expanding staff and community outreach to increase the number of mammograms performed through this program annually from 1\,250 to 4\,000.
