Book Fair Brings Nostalgia and Joy to University Hospital

This summer, University Hospital Foundation hosted a three-day Scholastic Book Fair that brought energy, excitement, and heartwarming moments to our community. The event was a tremendous success, generating more than $5,000 in sales and engaging staff, patients, and families alike.

What made this book fair especially meaningful was the strong buy-in from hospital staff across departments. From clinical teams to administrative offices, employees came together to browse, shop, and share in the experience. Many staff members commented on the nostalgia of seeing a Scholastic Book Fair again—something they hadn’t attended in years. The colorful displays and shelves full of books sparked fond childhood memories while creating new ones for the children and families who participated.

Beyond sales and memories, the fair accomplished something even greater: it brought joy and comfort to patients and parents during a time when they needed it most. Watching children light up as they picked out a new book, or parents finding the perfect story to share, underscored the power of small moments to make a big difference. Proceeds from the fair also support our Emergency Clothing Closet, which provides clothing to patients in need, and help families in Georgia King Village.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and support of our hospital community, the book fair was more than a fundraiser—it was a celebration of learning, connection, and care. We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped create such a successful and heartwarming event.
