Curated Virtual Event to Bring Awareness to Mental Wellness Among Men of Color

Dr. Franklin Hickey, Vice President of Ambulatory Care Services University Hospital to serve as a panelist at the URAWarrior Mental Wellness Summit: Pulling Back the Curtain on Men’s Mental Wellness.

Business and life coach Bershan Shaw will host a second virtual URAWarrior Mental Wellness Summit: Pulling Back the Curtain on Men’s Mental Wellness, during minority mental health month. This second event will occur on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST, 3:00 PM to 5 PM PST. The second part series promotes mental wellness awareness for Black men and empowers others to elevate their mental health journey.

The URAWarrior Mental Wellness Summit is hosted and sponsored by International Motivational Speaker and renowned business coach, Bershan Shaw. Bershan is also the CEO and founder of the URAWarrior app, which helps remove the stigma surrounding mental wellness. The inaugural URAWarrior Mental Wellness Summit, held in June, featured inspiring mental health testimonies, panel discussions, and appearances by influencers and top mental health experts.

The first panel guest panelist include: Richard Lawson, actor and master teacher; Dolvett Quince; author,celebrity body personal trainer and podcast host of Workout the Doubt with Dolvett Quince; Chris Spencer, actor & comedian, director, co-creator and executive producer of the Real Husbands of Hollywood, author, and writer; Dr. Kevin Washington, professor of psychology, Grambling State University, Founder & CEO, Nyansapo Empowerment Works Unlimited; Bershan Shaw, founder of the URAWARRIOR App, executive coach, speaker, and co-star of Real Housewives of New York.

About Franklin Hickey, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, Vice President of Ambulatory Care Services, University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey

Dr. Hickey earned his PhD from the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA), MSN from the College of Mount Saint Vincent (Riverdale, NY), BSN from the New Jersey City University (Jersey City, NJ), and ADN from Valencia College (Orlando FL).  He currently holds Nurse Executive (NEA-BC) national board certification.  He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau’s National Honor Society of Nursing, The American College of Health Executives, American Nurses Association, and The American Association of Historical Nursing. In addition, he serves as an associate board member to the Eleanor Bijorng Historical Nursing Center at the University of Virginia’s School of Nursing and Bylaws committee member for the American Historical Nursing Association.  Dr. Hickey’s motivating factors as both a nurse and healthcare leader is having the ability to directly improve the patients experience and clinical outcomes within the health system.  He philosophically believes that “Recognizing the value and importance of mentoring, engaging, and shared governance with frontline team members is critical to moving the needle within the health system for achieving established organizational goals.”
